JULY 2008 POWERFUL NEW ZEALAND SOUTH SWELL

visits
I got to the spot, and it was overhead with no one out. I got out as fast as I could.

It was slamming really hard, and the whole time my last injury was in the back of my mind.

Setting
it
up.

It was really hollow, but it required some guts and fancy footwork to get in just the right spot.

Even when you got into the perfect spot, there were bridal veils and axes all ready to end the fun.

I couldnt believe no one was there. I drove by so many spots that were over crowded.

I love this photo... it looks like Im so close to the beach. Thank Holly and her Nikon D80 w/ 300 VR lens.

There were a few other takers eventually, but we all shared the waves and had so much fun.

I launched a few airs, and Ive been practicing this double-rail grab air to use with my flips.

Heres another air punt, and "mini-me" demonstrates the landing...lol

It was so perfect, I couldnt even post all of the photos on this page. It was that good.

setting up a barrel... the water, air and photo is so clear right here... good job Holly!

It was sooo good out there, that it was almost as fun watching other people ride waves.

This guy watches as I rode through another cavern, only to get blown out the end.

Even the smaller ones offered some technical drops, and it was hard right from the start.

Setting up the barrel on a day like this is easy, as long as you have the skills.

This one was as thick as they come, and I was glad to get another great tuberide.

I was trippin on this foamy beast of a photo. Weird, eh?

This guy from Bermuda paddled out, and he was pretty cool. He ate it bad on this one tho.

I stepped up alot on my shortboard, I guess it was an attempt to get enough drive to escape.

There were a few good rights, and after over a dozen great left tubes, going right was a pleasure.

The rights were short, but you could still go twelve-o-clock.

Here an unknown dude sets up a great tube, par for the course this day.
